At first glance, it looks simple. Just three bold red circles.
But the longer you look at it, the more interesting it becomes. What first seems like a clean, minimal design starts to look like Hangul. And once you notice that, you cannot really unsee it. The logo stops feeling random and starts feeling very intentional.
The logo for BTS’s new album ARIRANG is not just visually striking. It can be read as a stylized version of the Korean consonants “ㅇㄹㄹ,” which connects directly to the title “Arirang.” This same visual form was also used in the album’s pop-up exhibition.
Even that alone is already clever. It takes Korean letters and turns them into something modern and graphic. But what makes the logo even more interesting is the meaning surrounding the album itself.
BTS has described ARIRANG as an album connected to identity, growth, and Korean elements. The members also shared that the logo began with Jung Kook’s idea, and that Korean motifs were naturally incorporated into the final design. Once you know that, the logo starts to feel deeper than it first appears.
It is not only about Hangul. It also feels very Korean in the way it is visually built.
The second and third circular forms stand out in particular. The horizontal lines inside them can remind viewers of the trigrams in the Korean flag, the Taegeukgi. In traditional Korean symbolism, these trigrams represent elements of the universe such as heaven, earth, water, and fire. Because of that, some people interpret these parts of the logo as reflecting geon-gwae and ri-gwae, which are associated with heaven and fire.
The first circle is interesting too. It reads as the consonant “ㅇ,” but it can also feel symbolic in a broader way. A circle can suggest origin, balance, wholeness, or continuity. It can also bring to mind the Taegeuk itself, the central symbol of harmony and cosmic order in Korean tradition.
At the same time, it is important to be careful. Not every single detail of the logo has been officially explained by BTS. So rather than saying every interpretation is confirmed, it is more accurate to say that the design invites these readings. Still, considering the concept of the album and the members’ own comments about Korean elements, these interpretations do not feel forced. They feel believable.
That is what makes the logo so interesting ! It works on several levels at once.
It looks modern, but it carries tradition.
It looks minimal, but it hints at something bigger.
It can be read as Hangul, but it also reflects Korean symbolism and identity.
In that sense, this is not just an album logo. It is a visual statement. It turns the title ARIRANG into something that feels distinctly BTS, thoughtful, rooted, and meaningful without trying too hard to explain itself.
At first, it may look like three simple red circles. But once you understand what you are looking at, it becomes much more than that.
